Announcing Soles for Souls!
Soles for Souls-a charity mission in John's honor, coordinated by Mjr. Jose Ocasio and Lisa.

from Chris Hallett:
"Hello everyone, we are going to establish a foundation in my brother'sname that will help collect and distribute shoes to the children ofAfghanistan. One of his friends who is currently deployed there noticedthat a lot children are running around with no shoes. It was his ideato begin collecting and handing out sho...esin John's name, since John too spent alot of his life running aroundbarefoot, we thought this would be a great way to honor his spirit andmemory. For those of you who don't know, John was killed while carryingout a humanitarian mission in Southern Afghanistan, he gave his lifetrying to help others, and we want to continue his work and keep hisspirit alive. Children's shoes can be dropped off our house or mailedto us, one of the major expenses will be shipping, so we also need tohelp raise some money for shipping costs. Right now we are going to becollecting all size kids shoes, up to approx. age 9. Also, no greenshoes, something about that color is considered bad by the locals. Also, if you live out of the area and would like to collect shoes andmail them from your city, please let us know, and we can help with thelogistics of shipping. If you need our home address please message meand I'll forward it to you. Thank your help and support"

Here is an article in The Concordian where Lisa talks more about the charity.

Anyone interested in sending shoes to
Afghanistan can mail them to: The John
Hallett Memorial Charity, Soles for Souls,
PO Box 565, DuPont, WA 98327, or send
them directly to the troops via Major Jose
H. Ocasio-Santiago, HHC 4-23, 5-2 SBCT,
FOB Wolverine, APO AE 09355. Please
email Lisa Hallett with the quantity and
date sent directly so that she may record it.
Postage costs hugely affect her ability to
distribute the shoes. Any help in that area
would also be appreciated.
Thank you, again
To everyone that has help create this fund, and all that have passed along beautiful words of kindness and love for the Hallett family:

THANK YOU!

This fund started out with a few close friends having an ambitious "goal" of $5000! Look to the right and see where the meter is at...it just keeps going, and we keep having to push the meter up!

Thank you again, from the bottom of our hearts.

John Louis Hallett, III 1978-2009
Cpt. John Louis Hallett, III was killed in action earlier this week, while serving with the US Army in Afghanistan. He was a part of Operation Enduring Freedom, on his second tour in the Middle East.

He leaves behind his wife, Lisa, and his three beautiful children:Jackson,3;Bryce; 1; and Heidi, 3 weeks. He was deployed 2weeks before his daughter’s birth. He is also survived by his mother, father, and two brothers. John was a West Point graduate who was passionate about his love of water polo, the US Army and most importantly, his family. Above all, John was a great father, husband, son, and leader. He was a friend to all, and there is no one who couldn't help but love John.

We ask for your support to help Lisa and her children get through this difficult time. Any amount of support is greatly appreciated.
